OUR SPANISH RETREAT

The "Our Spanish Retreat" project involves the design of a unique 2,200-square-foot residence, conceived in an "H" shape to harmoniously integrate a central interior courtyard as the organizing element of the spaces. Located on a privileged site next to a creek and surrounded by wooded areas, the home is designed to optimize the connection between its interiors and the natural surroundings while ensuring privacy from neighboring properties.

The proposal combines a modern approach with characteristic elements of the Hacienda style, creating a balance between tradition and contemporary aesthetics. White stucco facades, a Spanish tile roof, and simple black-framed windows contribute to a clean and timeless aesthetic, while the absence of arches and the use of straight lines reinforce the modern character.

The interior design prioritizes functionality and visual openness. In the living room, exposed beams add warmth and character, while a central fireplace with an integrated television creates an elegant focal point. This space connects seamlessly with the courtyard through large openings, promoting a fluid transition between the interior and the outdoor area. Meanwhile, the primary bedroom, designed for a couple, maintains direct access to the common areas, emphasizing comfort and connectivity.

The project’s layout was strategically planned to maximize views toward the forest and courtyard while minimizing visibility of neighboring properties. At the front of the residence, the main entrance is highlighted by a wooden door flanked by gas lanterns, with a subtle porch providing a welcoming access point. The vehicular solution includes a three-car garage and an additional guest parking area near the main entrance.

The design carefully adapts to the site’s conditions, meeting minimum elevation requirements and respecting the existing topography to preserve as many trees as possible. Additionally, a sustainable and efficient approach was prioritized by selecting quality materials and finishes that optimize the budget without compromising the architectural design.
