Residential - Apartment
This redesign project was carried out in an apartment in L'Aquila, Italy, where the main challenge was to maximize the functionality of the space while improving its layout with minimal structural interventions. The goal was to transform the apartment into a modern, comfortable, and efficient home, tailored to the needs of contemporary users.
Minimal Interventions, Maximum Functionality
The project began with a review of the apartment's layout, including the addition of a new bathroom, optimizing the existing plan to provide greater comfort without making significant structural changes. The interventions were kept to the minimum necessary, prioritizing the flow of spaces and maintaining the architectural essence of the place.
Open Kitchen: Unifying and Expanding Spaces
One of the key decisions was to create an open-concept design for the social areas, unifying the kitchen, dining room, and living room. This modification not only allowed for better use of the available space but also provided a sense of openness and modernity. The materials and finishes chosen for these areas blend warm, natural textures with contemporary touches, creating a cozy yet elegant atmosphere.
Modern and Sustainable Design
The interior design features a neutral color palette and sustainable materials, such as wood and steel, creating a sense of continuity between spaces while maintaining functionality. The furniture was selected with efficiency and durability in mind, ensuring that the space, while modern, meets the everyday needs of a dynamic lifestyle. The lighting has been strategically integrated to highlight the apartment's architectural features and enhance the sense of spaciousness.
This project demonstrates that through intelligent design and sensitivity to the surrounding context, it is possible to transform an ordinary space into a functional, elegant, and timeless home, without compromising on efficiency or respect for the architectural heritage of the city.
