Description

Dear Client,
Thank you for the opportunity to design your home, the design was approached with the idea of clearing the existing internal structure, leaving only the external wall as a shell, allowing the internal space to be freely distributed to accommodate the modern living standard while still appreciating the history.

Ground floor is divided in two areas by an entrance to the main house and a block of vertical access. The east wing of the floor is the rented area with two studio apartments that were carefully arranged so that it would accommodate a single and a couple needs, while the west wing become an enlarge garage. The house and the rented area has separate entrances.

The garage would be equipped with parking slider (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7wd9qbSaCU) so it could fit 2 cars in side by side position despite the lack of maneuvering space and small entrance opening. It could theoretically fit 2 mid-size SUV with bikes and bicycles or 1 SUV with 2 compact hatchbacks and a bike or bicycles.

The 1st floor is dedicated as a resting zone, where the master bedroom taking the whole east wing with its spacious walk-in closet. The 2 smaller bedrooms take up the west wing, one of which you could use as a guest bedroom or an office. Both the bedrooms on the north side has window seat for a quiet and contemplative moment. There is a bathtub in the master bathroom with window directly in front of it to enjoy a relaxing soak while looking at the view to the north.

The top floor is fully opened, becoming one large living, kitchen and dining area. A spacious butler pantry is placed behind the kitchen, the dining space is placed under a glass roof that cascade down becoming a viewing window. A 7,4 meter wide roof terraces is placed in the north west side of the house connected with floor-to-ceiling glass doors that could be fully opened creating a seamless indoor-outdoor space to enjoy fresh air on a good weather.

The basement is designed as a second living area by creating a corridor to connect the two existing space. A multi purpose space directly after the stair could be used as a gym, game room or an office. It could also be closed off with curtain to create a private space for secondary bedroom for a long staying guests. The east side of the basement is designed as a kitchen and dining area with a large wine cellar in the deepest part of the basement enclosed by glass wall to display your wine collection.

The garden was designed to have and outdoor dining space with barbeque, outdoor lounge surrounding a firepit (or lanterns if there is a restriction for outdoor fire hazard) enclosed by small trees and plants creating a private and intimate outdoor entertainment area.

The south, west and east façade is kept as much as the original to comply with the city guideline. While the north façade was opened to bring as much light and experience into the house as possible. Which overall could be improved after further assessment.

I hope the design satisfy your expectations, thank you. Kind regards.
