Description

Working on Luxembourg House project is both challenging and very absorbing simultaneously. The general approach in this project is to consider both the requires of the client from it to fulfill functional needs and noticing innovative architectural ideas in order to create proper and beautiful space for living.
There are two approaches in the restoration of valuable historical buildings. First is to renovate it exactly like it was in the past and don’t make any changes; second is to make meaningful and thoughtful interventions in the restoration process to show that you respect the intrinsic and historical values of the building but you renovate it and make some changes to use the building in the current (modern) time. In this project we consider client needs and also the cultural and historical context of the building so that the result would belong to contemporary time and can answer the modern life style requirements.
Adaptation to current situation of the building general geometry, being loyal to the current building skyline, using consonant materials to the project context, … are some of our approaches to respect the project historical context. Meanwhile through using some architectural elements in building facades and interior spaces and newest construction technologies we try to show that the result is a building that can fulfill the necessities of a modern life and modern people who wants to live in it. These features could be seen specially in the interior spaces. Color palette, architectural elements and general form of the building remind of a modern architecture.
Special organization in general is that the leased units and parking lots are considered for the ground floor. First floor sets for the rest areas (bedrooms) and private living room and second floor considered to be the main living area with all of its requirements. Basement is devoted to friendly gatherings and entertainment area so it could have a proper dialogue with the little garden that sits in front of it through the veranda that considered in the middle of the two spaces mentioned above (interiors of the basement and the little garden in front of it).
