Dear Client,
Thank you for the opportunity to develop the renovation concept for your guesthouse. The main objective of this project was to refresh the rooms and bathrooms and enhance the hallway lighting, while creating a distinctive identity that helps your property stand out among similar accommodations in the area โ especially to attract the summer festival crowd.
The design approach focuses on introducing recognizable, contemporary elements that feel fresh, youthful, and memorable, without exceeding a reasonable budget.
Rooms:
Accommodation is planned as a flexible combination of double beds, single beds, and extendable sofas, allowing the rooms to adapt to different guest group sizes.
The design direction is modern, with simple, clean-lined furniture, accent wallpaper and wooden panels, and lighting as key identity elements. Special attention was given to custom-made wall lamps, which act as both functional lighting and visual focal points to help each room stand out.
As this is a major renovation, I selected affordable furniture pieces (IKEA) that maintain a classic modern aesthetic, with the intention that these can later be sourced in higher-quality alternatives from other suppliers for improved durability.
A key custom-designed element is a cabinet in two size variations (depending on the room), developed specifically according to your requests.
Various examples of dropped ceilings and indirect lighting solutions are presented in the project deliverables to demonstrate different atmospheres and functional approaches.
Bathrooms:
As the existing bathrooms are very compact, the layout was maintained to avoid unnecessary structural changes. Instead, the upgrade focuses on materials, lighting, and fittings:
Existing floor tiles are proposed to be covered with micro cement for a seamless, modern finish.
Wall tiles are selected in an evergreen light gray tone, complemented by two alternative accent tile options, allowing you to choose the one that best fits your vision.
Dropped ceilings with indirect lighting are introduced wherever possible to enhance ambiance and perceived space.
Instead of a standard shower cabin, I recommend a low parapet with a fixed glass partition for a more open and contemporary look.
Where technically feasible, a wall-mounted toilet with built-in flush system is proposed.
A classic base sink cabinet, LED mirror, and a storage ladder complete the space with a functional yet modern feel.
If the budget allows, I strongly recommend replacing hinged bathroom doors with pocket (sliding) doors to improve comfort and maximize usable space.
Hallway & Lighting:
Indirect lighting in the hallway is introduced to create a warmer, more welcoming atmosphere and to improve circulation comfort. Dropped ceilings were strategically used where possible to integrate lighting.
Overall, this proposal balances budget-conscious decisions with impactful design upgrades, helping your guesthouse stand out while remaining practical and durable for high guest turnover.
I wish you good luck with your renovation!
Best regards!
