Project Description:

This project delivers a contemporary and highly functional design solution for the refurbishment of a large guesthouse in Costinești, targeting a young demographic seeking a unique and "Instagrammable" experience. Our design approach focuses on creating vibrant, modern spaces that are both appealing and cost-effective to implement, adhering to the client's brief for a stylish yet economical transformation of 100 identical existing rooms.

Key Design Principles & Client Requests Addressed:

Modern Inspiration: The design deviates from traditional guesthouse aesthetics, embracing modern trends with clean lines, bold accents, and dynamic lighting.

Economic Refurbishment: The strategy prioritizes minimal structural intervention to keep costs down. Crucially, no existing room partition walls were modified. Our interventions focused on internal finishes, bespoke furniture, and enhanced functionality. Only the ground floor bathrooms, identified as being too small for comfortable use, have been subtly enlarged within the existing footprints to improve user experience.

"Instagrammable" & Particular: Each room is designed with distinctive elements that encourage photo opportunities and create a memorable stay, appealing directly to the target youth market.

Indirect Lighting: Strategic use of indirect lighting, particularly in corridors (as per separate instruction) and within the room's feature elements, creates an inviting and sophisticated ambiance.

Custom Multifunctional Cabinetry: A core element of the design is the innovative integration of functional storage, specifically addressing the need to conceal refrigerators and safes.

Room Design Variants: "ROOM 1 - Tranquil Nature Escape" vs. "ROOM 2 - Modern Neon Serenity"

We propose two distinct design schemes per bedroom, offering variety across the 29 total rooms while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic identity for the guesthouse:

ROOM 1 - Tranquil Nature Escape (Green Accent): This variant features a calming accent wall in a deep, muted green. This choice evokes a sense of nature and tranquility, complemented by soft, earthy tones in the decorative pillows and bedding. The subtle interplay of natural wood textures (boiserie) with this green creates a serene yet sophisticated atmosphere.

ROOM 2 - Modern Neon Serenity (Blue Accent): This variant opts for a vibrant, rich blue accent wall. This bolder color choice delivers a striking visual impact, perfect for generating a "wow" factor and ensuring high "Instagrammability." The blue is paired with contrasting decorative pillows in complementary shades, enhancing the dynamic feel of the space. This is our recommended choice for maximizing appeal to the youth demographic.

Innovative Concealed Cabinetry & Feature Elements:

Both room variants prominently feature custom-built slatted wooden boiserie panels. This element serves multiple design and functional purposes:

TV Integration: The television is seamlessly mounted within the boiserie, maintaining clean lines and reducing visual clutter.

Hidden Storage: Behind these elegant slatted walls, we've ingeniously concealed multifunctional cabinetry. This includes the mandated refrigerator and safe, ensuring they are out of sight when not in use, contributing to a sleek and uncluttered room environment. This bespoke solution maximizes space efficiency and meets the client's specific requirements.

Characteristic & Cost-Effective Elements:

Several elements contribute to the rooms' unique character while being easily implementable and budget-friendly:

Neon Light Signs: Custom LED neon signs (e.g., "SWEET DREAM," "SMILE," "VIBES") are strategically placed on the accent walls. These provide a playful, modern touch and are incredibly effective for creating memorable photo backdrops, directly enhancing the "Instagrammable" quality.

Mirrored Wall Decor: Circular mirrors with slim frames are arranged artfully on the accent wall. These add a decorative touch, reflect light to make the room feel larger, and serve as functional elements for guests.

Statement Pendant Lighting: Simple yet stylish pendant lights with exposed bulbs provide ambient lighting and a contemporary aesthetic without requiring complex installations.

Monochromatic Furniture & Bedding: Keeping the main furniture pieces (bed frame, desk) in neutral, light tones (white, light grey) allows the accent wall and decorative elements to truly stand out. This approach also allows for easier replacement or updates of soft furnishings.

Modular Storage & Desk Solutions: The integrated desk and shelving units are designed for efficient use of space, providing practical areas for guests to work or store personal items.
In addition to the private quarters, the design extends to the communal and service areas, ensuring a seamless and high-impact experience for the young guests throughout the entire guesthouse.

1. Corridors: The Dynamic Connection

Indirect Lighting Concept: Following the client’s request, the corridors feature a sophisticated indirect lighting system integrated into a slatted wooden ceiling. This creates a rhythmic "tunnel" effect that is both modern and welcoming.

Material Continuity: The use of vertical and horizontal wood slats mirrors the room's boiserie, creating a cohesive architectural language throughout the building.

Instagrammable Signage: Large, backlit room numbers and minimalist art frames provide a clean, "urban gallery" feel, perfect for social media backdrops.

2. Bathrooms: Strategic Modernization

Structural Optimization: While room dimensions remained untouched, ground floor bathrooms were strategically enlarged to meet modern comfort standards.

Design Aesthetic: The bathrooms feature a minimalist design with slatted wood accents behind the vanity and integrated LED lighting strips.

Functional Durability: High-quality, easy-to-clean surfaces are used to ensure longevity in a high-turnover environment, maintaining a premium feel at a budget-friendly price point.

3. Dining Area: Vibrant Social Hub

Color Palette: The dining area utilizes a bold teal/petrol blue on the walls to harmonize with the "Modern Neon Serenity" room scheme.

Bespoke Buffet & Storage: A custom-built cabinetry unit with a slatted wood finish and integrated vertical light strips serves as a focal point, echoing the hidden cabinet design from the bedrooms.

Furniture & Atmosphere: High-contrast yellow chairs and black circular tables create a lively, energetic environment for social gatherings.

Lighting: Architectural pendant lights and exposed white ceiling beams emphasize the height and airy nature of the communal space.
