Description

COURTYARD APARTMENT

The main goal of this project is to make the two apartments feel like a unified space, open, airy and light.

Following the concept of traditional Mediterranean and Asian courtyard houses, the space flows around a central courtyard.

In this case the courtyard itself is not directly accessible, but all spaces are accessible from a circulation area flowing around the central void. Keeping the exterior walls unobstructed allows for daylight to enter and disperse through the apartment.

To create some of the interior spaces, the interior walls are translucent in order to let in as much light as possible. There are several options to make the rooms more private, like semi-transparent glass surfaces and curtains, but the result, as can be seen in the reference images, is a light and airy feeling.
