Description

The main concept was to create a house with different qualities where every habitant will be able to find its own spot, but at the same time flow between spaces will connect them. So people who live the house can choose to isolate or be more public.

As for the organization of the floor plan the goal was to create a ground floor that its living spaces expand to the exterior and create spaces without borders in&out. The second floor was organized so that the bedrooms can take advantage of the sunlight.

The entrance is from the porch. At the entrance hall someone can find a closet with a sitting space and a helping desk. Also there is a secondary entrance from the parking space. Afterwards there is the living, the dinning area and the kitchen. The kitchen is lightly separated with a bookcase wall and a fireplace. It has an island which can be used for informal eating table. These spaces are linearly designed to take advantage of the glass façade to the patio and expand their uses at the exterior space. This creates a core with the more public uses of the house that gives life to the patio of the building. Furthermore behind the kitchen are put the auxillary spaces which contain a guest bathroom and a storage/laundry room.

The staircase is kept at its place as it is at a central point between living spaces and the entrance.

The patio of the building gets less sunlight than its main facade because of the neighbour buildings. For this reason the master bedroom and the two kids’ bedrooms at the first floor, are placed at the main façade of the building. The kids area (which could also be used as guest room) and the bathroom are placed at the façade of the patio which has less light. The fitness area has a big opening so that it can work as a more open space and is directly connected with the veranda of the floor. Furthermore a greenhouse structure is used to expand the borders of the fitness space and create an atmosphere as you are having an outdoor work out. The first floor veranda works as a more private and calm exterior space that contains a sunbath area and a built sofa.

It is obvious that many “nests” where someone can sit have been created. For example the desk at the entrance hall, the secondary living area, the kids area or the wide sitting window. The goal is that the family members will be able to find some semi private and semi public spaces beyond the privacy of their bedrooms and the more public character of the living & dinning area.

For the first floor there is an option B where an elevator and an exterior jacuzzi have been placed. Also the fitting room has been reduced and it has been designed an extra bathroom. There is a proposal that a pool could be constructed at the back of the ground floor’s garden (as indicated at the plan).

For the planting there have been used climbing plants and bushes at the ground floor in order to make green the neighbor’s wall and create a patio which looks like an oasis. On the first floor’s planting area I propose smaller aromatic plants that create a calmer atmosphere related to the more private and quiet character of the space.

As for the renders of the house I would like to mention that because of time the roof was designed flat. However it is important to highlight that skylights are proposed at the douche spaces in order to create more atmospheric bathrooms.

At last but not least, the goal was to create a house with sunny and pleasant spaces that at the same time will make easy its everyday stay.
