Description

The proposal took into account the owners' two main needs, better interior natural light and the lack of a warm welcoming interior.

Therefore, the proposal suggests the conversion of two existing openings into bigger ones, in order for the natural light to reach the interior in more direct way. More specifically, one existing window turns into a door and the dining room is placed next to it, so as during summer months it can connect with the garden. A mirror is also placed there to bring light and view in. The other one becomes bigger and it is designed as a private seating area, connected with the rest living room and the garden.

The second main goal is to provide a whole new and warm character. New wooden floor and furniture, as well as the new design for the fireplace create a welcoming and scandinavian atmosphere. The new interior utilizes modern design elements in warm and inviting tones.

The proposed open plan gives the opportunity for the whole interior space to be treated as one, but at the same time sub areas are created-such as the kitchen that can be isolated when needed, the library by the fireplace, the living room with the new seating area-window and finally the dining room.

The main entrance shelters a custom made storage furniture, so as the lack of storage space to be fixed.
The secondary entrance is preserved, but is redesigned as an interior corridor for the sake of the communication between ground floor and basement, for reasons of convenience and functionality.
