The space was very challenging, but I believe I've managed to get the most out of it and create a home that is functionally clean and cozy at the same time.
The house has all the spaces that were listed in the brief and through discussions with designers.
The ground floor is the living area of the house with the main entrance in the original position and the front of the house open towards the front garden and lake.
The lounge is placed by the large glass portal and opens towards the outside with the possibility to create a continuous space in the summer months. Towards the inside of the room is the kitchen that is fully equipped and fitted below the staircase with a small is ad and table for four. On the far end of this floor is the bathroom.
To avoid having long narrow corridors the staircase is designed to go in two directions giving the communications through the house a lighter and brighter feeling.
One side of the staircase leads directly from the living area into the glass cube which is very convenient if you have guests and you would like to host in this space.
The other side of the staircase leads to the back entrance and a small hallway connecting this floor to the top floor of the house.
This means all bedrooms are well connected, bedroom 1 from two sides of the staircase and through a shared bathroom on the first floor with bedroom 2, and bedroom 3 with the additional stairs from the corridor.
Bedroom 1 has a roof window for natural light and ventilation, and the other two rooms are looking towards the back garden.
All bedrooms are furnished with double beds 120-160 cm, built-in or walk-in wardrobes, bedroom 2 with a desk, and bedroom 3 makeup table or desk and additional seating.
The glass box is cantilevered and extended into the house to give a larger area to this space. Four sides of the cube are glass which gives you an open view on all sides including the sky view.
