Residential - House
Located in the province of Livorno, Italy, this interior design and architecture project transformed a traditional home into a modern and functional residence, while preserving its local essence. The intervention not only optimized the space distribution but also gave the house a new visual identity, inspired by American homes known for their spaciousness, brightness, and warmth.
The main challenge of the project was the complete redistribution of the space, with the goal of creating three comfortable bedrooms and two functional bathrooms, while maintaining a sense of openness throughout. The layout was conceived as an open-plan design, allowing a fluid connection between the different areas. The fireplace, a central feature of the house, was kept in its original location but modernized by incorporating it as a dividing element between the living room and kitchen. This solution not only enhances the character of the home but also ensures a visual connection between the spaces without compromising the privacy of each.
The interior design was influenced by American homes, particularly those known for their open spaces and integration of warm materials like wood, which was used extensively on the floors and in decorative details. A soft, neutral color palette, combined with touches of natural wood and metallic accents, creates a sense of comfort and modernity. The open layout of the kitchen and living room offers an ideal environment for entertaining, while the bedrooms were designed to take advantage of natural light, creating intimate and peaceful spaces.
Externally, the design proposed the addition of a swimming pool, a perfect space for enjoying the Mediterranean climate and providing an outdoor area for relaxation. The pool was seamlessly integrated into the natural surroundings, using materials that complement the landscape and reinforce the connection between the interior and exterior. Additionally, a small independent cabin was designed as an annex to accommodate guests. This cozy retreat is fully equipped with all the necessary amenities, offering privacy and comfort in a natural setting. The cabin’s design aligns with the main house, using local materials that are both sustainable and respectful of the environment.
This interior design and architecture project not only optimized the functional distribution of the home but also achieved a perfect fusion of contemporary design and the warmth of natural materials. The result is a bright, open, and welcoming home, ideal for both family living and social gatherings, with an exterior that invites relaxation and enjoyment in the open air.
