Hello dear Designers!
I have recently purchased an apartment in Rotterdam. Floors and walls will remain as they are — this project focuses purely on furniture positioning, interior layout, styling and functional design concepts.
Because I am working on a budget, I would like all styling suggestions to come from international retail chains that are available in the Netherlands, at the end of this document I will list the shops you can source from.
Spaces
Ground Floor
Living Room: Currently includes both a sitting area and dining area. I am open to two options:
Living room with sitting area only (sofa, lounge chairs, TV/media setup).
Living room with sitting + dining area.
For the living room, I'm leaning towards a modular sofa that you can assemble yourself. Be as creative as possible with the various configurations.

Conservatory: Option to place a large dining table here for family dinners.
First Floor
Master Bedroom: Functional, cozy, and elegant layout.
The bed must fit against one wall, and 1 or 2 chest(s) of drawers with a TV on top will be placed against the wall opposite the bed.
(This may require sacrificing a window.)
Guest Bedroom: Comfortable setup with sofabed
Make-up Room: Dressing/make-up area with table, mirror, and storage solutions.
Requirements
Provide furniture layout plans (2D top view) and, if possible, 3D visualizations or mood boards.
A large dining table must be included in at least one scenario (living room or conservatory).
Use existing floors and walls — no renovations.
Preferred style: modern, cozy, practical for family living.
All furniture must be sourced from IKEA, JYSK, ZARA HOME,Wehkamp or similar international chains available in the Netherlands.
Deliverables
Layout plans for each room.
Visualizations and furniture suggestions
Two alternative scenarios for the dining area (living room vs. conservatory).
Budget
This is a budget-conscious project. The aim is to get the nicest furniture and finishing/styling for the entire home at the lowest price.
We will award the contest budget as a single prize covering all rooms. Designers are encouraged to present multiple layout variations.
