Description

Renovation of Residental Building

The following project suggests a renovation of a residential building. The main concept includes exterior wall cladding and some structural changes such as:
1. Demolishing all the railings and building new ones from a perforated metal.
2. Making the roof terrace bigger. But not demolishing the parapet walls to keep the main style of the building.
3. Removing all the brown panels and replacing them with energy efficient synthetic materials (e.g. Polystyrene) and paint it white, which will make the building look lighter.
As the client didn't want to change the main shape of the building a lot, it was suggested to cover almost all the columns and beams with a metal, thus, keeping the main style of the building. Depending on budget the steel can be replaced with another material. Meanwhile, we can have green architecture by growing climbing plants like Ivy (Hedera), Hop (Humulus), Large-leaved, or Wild Grapes (Parthenocissus) on the facade. For that we need to put a soil behind the metal structure and grow the plant there. This will also require using of recycled modular steel mesh as an exterior wall cladding which will also be a shading system. The same way it is possible to build pergolas on the roof which will make the building fully modular and complete. The metals and pergolas covering columns and beams give an opportunity to provide the building with the linear led lights. On the balconies pendant lights can be installed which will not only make the building more beautiful but also give a functional value to it.
