housing - small-apt
These are my 2 solutions for your new home:
In the first one, there is only one night zone, and it is located in the apartment B. The main entrance is from the apartment A, and from the entry area you can access Umberto’s office (which has a sofa bed suitable for 2 people), living area or kitchen, through pantry, which is useful if you’re coming home from groceries shopping and need to reach it quickly. There is also a small toilet for the guests (just WC and a sink) , and a hallway leading to the bedrooms. Living room, with a corner for Elena’s desk, is connected to the dining room, which is, also, connected to the kitchen by sliding doors. Also by means of the sliding doors, living area is connected to the veranda, where you have 3 distinct zones: dining area, with a big, extendable table for up to 12 people, sitting area with sofas and armchairs and a play area for the children: here you have a home theater system (projecting on the wall), with some beanbags for the kids to sit in, pinball machine, video game arcade, toy box… In the night zone, there is a guest bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom, Sofia’s room, laundry room and/or storage room, that can also be accessed from the old entrance to the apartment B, now used as a service entry, and master bedroom. In the master bedroom there is a walk-in closet, a bathroom with a bathtub and two sinks, and in the small anteroom you have a built-in cabinet for clean linens and towels. Also, it has a private balcony.
In solution number 2, living room and dining room are more connected, and better positioned to the veranda. Also, kitchen is in line with them , and by opening the sliding doors they can be perceived as one big open space. As a result of this spatial arrangement, there are two night zones of the apartment – one for the parents and one for Sofia and the guests. Master bedroom for the parents has, like in the project number 1, the small anteroom, a bathroom and a walk-in closet. Service entrance is used to easily reach laundry room or kitchen -again, when coming home with bags and groceries (pantry, accessed from the kitchen, is made by closing a part of the terrace).
From the main entrance, one can access Umberto’s office, living area or night area, which has a guest bedroom, a bathroom and Sofia’s room. One of the benefits of this solution is that your daughter’s room is away from the veranda, so if you have guests staying late, talking and having fun, the noise won’t keep her from sleeping, since her room is far from there. On the veranda there are sitting area, dining area and a play zone for children, but this time play zone is in middle, making it easier to keep an eye on children from different rooms. Treadmill is located in the living room, in a niche that can be closed so it’s not exposed when you have guests.
In both cases, bathrooms are where they used to be (just a bit bigger or smaller than before), and kitchen is located near some bathroom, in order to easily reach water pipes.
