Project description

Dear Client,

As part of the competition for the redesign of your under-construction apartment, three interior layout alternatives have been developed with a focus on functionality, spatial quality, and adaptability to different lifestyles.

The planning process was shaped by existing building elements—most notably the fixed shaft locations—which directly influenced the positioning of wet spaces such as the kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry area. These constraints were carefully considered to ensure both technical feasibility and spatial efficiency.

The use of balconies was approached with an understanding of seasonal behavior. It is anticipated that the north-facing balcony would be more frequently used in summer for its shade, while the south-facing one would offer a sunlit retreat during winter. To enhance accessibility and shared use, the layouts were designed so that both balconies are reachable from central living spaces like the kitchen and living room.

Three distinct layout alternatives were created to respond to varying preferences regarding daylight, orientation, privacy, and flow. Bedroom placements, for instance, were considered based on potential differences in daylight needs and views—whether toward the courtyard or the street. Within each option, internal room arrangements were also diversified to propose different possibilities .

Throughout the process, care was taken to respond to all stated needs while also suggesting a spacious and comfortable atmosphere. I hope this proposal responds well to your expectations.
