Description

The new space planning of the garage allows the clear organization of rooms and distinct distribution of furniture elements to fulfill the needs of converting the garage into a functional apartment.
- Space planning: The organization of the plan targeted a clear distribution of the required rooms and at the same time, it tried to solve the separation between public and private zones. The entrance lobby distinguishes the living and dining spaces by direct visual contact. The dining area connects directly to the kitchen, which in return connects by a direct route from the main entrance, while the living area comprises a unique position at the end of the living space. With a minimum intervention to the position of the existing walls, i.e. only moving the "Cantina" left wall about 80 cm to the right, the distribution of the bedroom, master bedroom, and bathroom created a clear modular arrangement that respects the location of the existing pillars. The space arranged for the bedroom allows various furniture elements within; such as a wardrobe, dressing table, two single beds, and two nightstands. Alongside the lobby of the bedroom, there is access to a full bathroom. The space arranged for the master bedroom allows various furniture elements within; such as a wardrobe, dressing table, chair, coffee table, clothes cabinet, full-size bed, and two nightstands, as well as allowing a space for a walk-in closet and a full master bathroom. Alongside the lobby of the master bedroom, the laundry closet positioned to allow easy access from all the surrounding spaces.
- Pillars' Enhancement Proposals: Three alternatives for existing pillars' enhancement are proposed, it is essential for all of them that a rebar inspection is conducted to make sure that it is safe and free of any rust. In the first alternative, it is proposed that veneer stone wrap the pillars and wooden skirting installed to add a natural and original appearance to the existing pillars. In the second alternative, it is proposed to install cedar wooden strips directly above the plaster covering the pillar's concrete body to achieve a modern and simple appearance. While in the third alternative, it is proposed to install laminate cladding panels and wooden skirting above supporting wooden battens to achieve a warm appearance and rich visual integration.
