Contemporary Single-Story Villa
This project presents the design of a contemporary single-story family villa, carefully developed in response to the client’s desire for a modern, comfortable, and climate-responsive home.
One of the main design priorities was the optimal positioning of the building on the site to maximize natural sunlight throughout the year while maintaining privacy and strong visual connections to the surrounding landscape. The house is elevated approximately 60 cm above the existing ground level, creating a subtle sense of presence and improving the relationship between the building and the terrain.
The spatial organization is based on a clear separation between the private zones of the family. The parents’ suite and the children’s bedrooms are located in two distinct wings, connected through a central living core that accommodates the open-plan kitchen, dining area, and living room. This arrangement provides privacy, acoustic comfort, and a balanced family lifestyle.The kitchen serves as the heart of the house, directly connected to a multifunctional bioclimatic pergola that can be used as an outdoor dining and relaxation space throughout the seasons. Large glazed openings strengthen the connection between interior and exterior spaces while carefully designed shading elements help control solar gain during the summer months.
Architecturally, the villa follows a clean contemporary language characterized by horizontal proportions, a flat roof, light-colored façades, and natural stone accents. To enhance the spatial experience, different ceiling heights are introduced across the house, creating a sense of movement, hierarchy, and visual interest despite the single-story configuration.
The double garage is discreetly positioned on the northern side of the building and recessed from the main façade, ensuring that the entrance experience remains the primary architectural focus. Additional space within the garage accommodates small maintenance and workshop activities.
The overall design combines functionality, energy efficiency, and contemporary aesthetics, resulting in a warm and elegant home that responds to both the lifestyle of its occupants and the environmental conditions of the site.
