I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to offer my design ideas for your wonderful space.
In this design I felt the most important aspect was giving you storage space in every area. I used furnishings that were functional and mostly applied to the walls not using floor space. By using the vertical space it creates a grander illusion to a space.
I kept the original white walls and added small bursts of colors. I did not want to add a lot of paint color as I have enhanced color with accessories: art, rugs, pillows ect. Also, it is easier to change out pillows, bed covers and small accessories than re-painting.
I wanted to create an area for the living room. My idea is a theater concept that is a space of its own while keeping the open area of the original floor plan. The solution was to use open slats both for hanging the TV and a room divider between the dining room and the living room. By using slats of wood this design kept the area open between the two spaces yet created imaginary borders, as well, still having the beautiful view outside of the patio and city scape. I hope you enjoy the design as it brings an interesting element to your space.
There were two small design challenges that I observed:
The rectangular storage boxes used as banquettes with the round tulip table is not the best solution. If you have a group of guests dining it will be uncomfortable for the persons sitting in the corner of the rectangular banquettes reaching to the table. To solve this challenge, I researched a circular banquette that fits with the group of furnishings perfectly. Then I was able to use the far wall for shelve storage coupled with your photos of family and friends to create a comfortable space to dine.
One white rectangular storage box could be placed in the office closet and possibly the other one could be placed in the coat closet next to the washer/dryer space.
The other challenge is that there are too many pieces of outdoor furniture for the amount of floor space; there is not enough circulation for a practical area, so I omitted one seating piece and one tall planter to create a comfortable relaxing area for you to enjoy.
As far as placement of your exercise bicycle, I placed it in the office next to the closet. I would think it is movable, so you can move it in to the living area to ride with a movie playing or on the patio as well. The patio would be very nice on a warm day. When you are done for the day, place the bicycle back in the office space.
Sorry I could not fit all the numbered furniture/accessories for the furniture scheme Cocontest required. Instead there are 50 pages in a PDF of furnishings for your space. Each description has the correct dimensions for each piece and should fit in the space intended. As well, included on each item page are specific locations, manufacture, item #, cost, website and images of the piece. If you have questions on any product feel to contact me and I will find a solution.
Once again, thank you for providing me with a fun project!.
