The principal thought here was to make a light cozy space
Due to the position of the room, with its many windows and doors, which bring in light, and its principal role of connecting the house, which means it should be spatious for passing through with ease, leaves little space for furniture along the walls.
That taken into account we saw the space between the two doors leading outside and realised that the best way to use the space would be as an entertainment center. The wall lamps were left on either side to provide illumination when night falls, though we found a more contemporary replacement. Then after drawing a corridor between the living room entrance and the kitchen entrances (the two steps) there was just enough space left to place a light sofa in the center of the room, any darker colour would have left a feeling of full space right in the middle of the room. TO contrast the light sofa, we placed two navy blue chairs on the sides, at the same time, leaving enough space for entry through both doors from outside. There was just enough space left in between to fit a medium-large sized coffee table made mostly of glass, to preserve the light and airy feeling of the room. There is enough space left on either side of the sofa for placing small side tables, if needed.
The wall opposite the two doors can host a stepped bookcase, which would mimic the stairs behind, or as you can see in the pictures, host a credenza and a bit innovative designed tree-shaped bookcase, which mimics the plants situated elsewhere in the room. You can choose either option, depending on your goals for this space, if you want more storage and shelving, choose the stepped shelves, if you want to be able to place your laptop or even a computer somewhere in the room, you should better place the credenza and tree shelves.
