Residential - Apartment
The Carved Light Residence is a vertical urban dwelling that transforms a compact footprint into a spatially rich and luminous living environment. Conceived as a sequence of sculpted volumes, the project explores the interplay between solid and void, guiding natural light deep into the interior while creating a continuous spatial experience across multiple levels.
Ground Floor:
The entry sequence leads to an open kitchen and dining area, conceived as a warm and intimate social space. Built-in seating and streamlined cabinetry maximize functionality within the compact plan. The staircase and adjacent service spaces act as a transitional threshold between public and private zones.
Second Floor:
This level accommodates the primary bedroom, bathroom, and a workspace overlooking the central void. The visual connection to the stair reinforces spatial continuity while maintaining privacy. A small terrace extends the living space outward, offering light and ventilation.
Third Floor:
The uppermost level houses a living room that opens to an outdoor terrace. Positioned beneath a skylight, this space becomes the brightest area of the home, serving as a tranquil retreat with framed views of the surroundings.
Roof Level:
The roof integrates additional skylights and outdoor areas, enhancing environmental performance and providing opportunities for passive lighting and ventilation.
Architectural Language
The residence embodies a sculptural minimalism, where architecture is expressed through the careful manipulation of geometry rather than ornamentation. Angular ceilings and carved planes contrast with the fluid form of the spiral stair, producing a dialogue between orthogonal and curvilinear elements.
