Opening Between the Two Buildings and Structural Integration

We created an opening between the two buildings at the center, connected by an internal staircase that links all levels smoothly and allows natural light to reach the different floors. To ensure the structural safety of this intervention, the following measures were implemented:

- Reinforcing part of the existing walls with a metal mesh to strengthen the area where the opening was created.
- Adding a network of steel columns with an I‑section profile to safely transfer loads.
- Strengthening each slab with primary and secondary steel beams, eliminating the need to rely on or alter the existing stone walls, thus preserving the integrity of the historic structure.
- Restoring the interior walls and adding a stone‑effect finish to maintain the spirit of the place while introducing a modern touch.

Functional Distribution Between the Two Buildings

Building One
In the first building, the original entrance door was transformed into a window, and the entrance was removed, allowing the window to serve the bedroom and bring in more natural light.
This building now contains:

- Two bedrooms
- Two bathrooms

Ensuring privacy and a calm atmosphere.

Building Two
The second building has its entrance from Via Cappellini. The floor level was lowered by approximately 20 cm to increase the ceiling height and improve spatial comfort.

This building includes:

- The main entrance
- Small storage rooms
- A bar area
- A metal staircase connecting to the upper levels
- A kitchen accessible from Vicolo Fiori, which can also serve as the main entrance if the ground floor level is later converted into a guest room
- A living room with a high ceiling

For the final room and living room under the roof, two ceiling options were proposed:

- A ceiling with skylights
- A ceiling made of metal and transparent acrylic to maximize natural light

The final choice will be made after consulting specialists on site and evaluating the structural condition.

The interior design follows a vision that blends:

- A modern aesthetic with clean, simple lines
- A minimalist approach that highlights space
- A sense of warmth and comfort through natural materials and thoughtful lighting
- Preservation of the historic stone character by showcasing the stone texture in a contemporary way
- A balanced mix of iron, wood, and stone to harmonize modernity with authenticity
- Maximizing natural light through vertical openings, open staircases, and transparent or semi-transparent roof elements such as skylights

The result is a living environment that merges heritage with modern comfort, creating a bright, harmonious, and character rich home.

Il progetto è stato concepito con la massima attenzione ad ogni dettaglio, a partire dal concept architettonico fino agli studi strutturali, idraulici ed elettrici, garantendo una proposta completa e ben coordinata. Tutti i dettagli sono stati sviluppati sulla base dei disegni, della documentazione e delle foto fornite, senza un sopralluogo in loco. Per questo motivo, è fondamentale consultare un ingegnere strutturale qualificato in loco prima di iniziare qualsiasi intervento, per verificarne la fattibilità e garantire la sicurezza degli edifici esistenti.

Apertura tra i due edifici e integrazione strutturale

Abbiamo creato un'apertura tra i due edifici centrali, collegata da una scala interna che unisce fluidamente tutti i livelli e permette alla luce naturale di raggiungere i diversi piani. Per garantire la sicurezza strutturale di questo intervento, sono state implementate le seguenti misure:

- Rinforzo di parte delle pareti esistenti con una rete metallica per consolidare l'area in cui è stata creata l'apertura.

- Aggiunta di una rete di colonne in acciaio con profilo a I per trasferire in sicurezza i carichi.

- Rinforzo di ogni solaio con travi in ​​acciaio primarie e secondarie, eliminando la necessità di intervenire o modificare i muri in pietra esistenti e preservando così l'integrità della struttura storica.

- Restauro delle pareti interne con finitura effetto pietra per mantenere lo spirito del luogo e al contempo introdurre un tocco di modernità.

Distribuzione funzionale tra i due edifici

Edificio Uno
Nel primo edificio, la porta d'ingresso originaria è stata trasformata in una finestra e l'ingresso è stato rimosso, consentendo alla finestra di servire la camera da letto e di far entrare più luce naturale.

Questo edificio ora ospita:

- Due camere da letto
- Due bagni

Garantisce privacy e un'atmosfera tranquilla.

Edificio Due
Il secondo edificio ha ingresso da Via Cappellini. Il livello del pavimento è stato abbassato di circa 20 cm per aumentare l'altezza del soffitto e migliorare il comfort spaziale.

Questo edificio comprende:

- L'ingresso principale
- Piccoli ripostigli
- Un'area bar
- Una scala metallica che collega ai piani superiori
- Una cucina accessibile da Vicolo Fiori, che può fungere anche da ingresso principale qualora il piano terra venisse successivamente trasformato in una camera per gli ospiti
- Un soggiorno con soffitto alto

Per l'ultimo ambiente e il soggiorno sottotetto, sono state proposte due opzioni per il soffitto:

- Un soffitto con lucernari
- Un soffitto in metallo e acrilico trasparente per massimizzare la luce naturale

La scelta definitiva verrà effettuata dopo aver consultato degli specialisti in loco e aver valutato le condizioni strutturali.

Il progetto d'interni si ispira a una visione che fonde:

- Un'estetica moderna con linee pulite e semplici
- Un approccio minimalista che valorizza lo spazio
- Un senso di calore e comfort grazie a materiali naturali e un'illuminazione studiata nei minimi dettagli
- La conservazione del carattere storico della pietra, mettendone in risalto la texture in chiave contemporanea
- Un mix equilibrato di ferro, legno e pietra per armonizzare modernità e autenticità
- La massimizzazione della luce naturale attraverso aperture verticali, scale a vista ed elementi del tetto trasparenti o semitrasparenti come i lucernari

Il risultato è un ambiente abitativo che unisce tradizione e comfort moderni, creando una casa luminosa, armoniosa e ricca di carattere.
