Project description

For this project, the main challenge was to connect two separate parts of the house into one cohesive and functional living space, while renovating the existing structure to improve circulation and usability.

Starting from the entrance, I designed a practical and welcoming zone. I added a bathroom near the entrance for convenience, and beside it, I integrated a storage unit for shoes and clothes, along with a small bench to enhance comfort and functionality.

Moving further inside, we reach the kitchen area, which is directly connected to the staircase leading to the upper floors. To maximize space efficiency, I utilized the area under the stairs as hidden storage, accessed through the kitchen cabinetry. This allows us to gain additional storage without affecting the visual clarity of the space.

Since the two parts of the house have different floor levels, I introduced a few transitional steps that lead into the second building. These steps help create a smooth and natural connection between both parts. In this section, I designed the main living area, which includes a comfortable seating arrangement with a sofa and two chairs, along with a dining space that serves the whole house.

On the second floor, I organized the layout to balance work and living needs. Near the staircase, I added a dedicated office space. From there, an architectural arch leads to the second part of the house, with a few steps addressing the level difference. This area includes a bedroom with a dressing space, as well as a separate bathroom that can serve both the bedroom and the office.

Continuing to the third floor, the same concept of connection is maintained. Near the stairs, I placed an additional bedroom. Then, through another arch and level transition, we reach the master bedroom. This space is designed to be more private and comfortable, including its own dressing area and an ensuite bathroom.

One of the key design strategies in this project was to group all bathrooms within the same vertical zone. This approach simplifies the plumbing system and makes construction more efficient, reducing both cost and complexity.

Overall, the design focuses on creating a seamless connection between the two buildings, improving circulation despite the level differences, and maximizing functionality while maintaining a clean and modern spatial experience.
