Residential - Room
I developed three layout options:
Option 01 and Option 03: These are more conservative solutions, focusing on optimizing circulation and maximizing usable space. The bed is positioned to allow comfortable access and clearances, while the desk is placed to benefit from natural light, without obstructing the radiator. The bookcase is integrated into the layout to provide ample storage for books and art materials, ensuring the room remains organized and inspiring.
Option 02: This is a bolder, more radical proposal that explores unconventional furniture placement to take full advantage of the room’s unique shape. In this version, the bed orientation and the desk placement create distinct zones for rest, study, and creativity.
In all options, I carefully considered the irregular angles and the placement of the radiator under the window, ensuring that furniture does not block heat flow or impede movement. The absence of doors (as per the client’s update) was incorporated into the design to further open up the space and improve flexibility.
Design Approach
Throughout the process, I prioritized:
Comfortable circulation: Ensuring there is enough space around the bed (even with a 140 cm width) and between furniture pieces, following recommended clearances for bedrooms with larger beds.
Functional zoning: Creating clear areas for sleeping, studying, and reading, despite the room’s challenging geometry.
Personalization: Respecting the client’s daughter’s preferences, such as the dark wallpaper and the need for a creative, inspiring environment.
I hope these solutions meet the client’s expectations and provide a comfortable, functional, and personalized space for their daughter. I remain available for any further adjustments or feedback.
