Commercial - Show Room
The showroom was designed in direct response to the client's brief: to create an editorial, high-impact, and Instagrammable space .
The proposed design is a carefully curated blend of four distinct stylistic influences:
Palm Beach Regency, Moorish architecture, Grandmillennial charm, and Cape Dutch refinement.
Palm Beach Regency
The space captures the essence of this glamorous coastal style through the use of crisp white finishes, brushed gold accents, and lush tropical greenery. There’s a relaxed luxury in the palette and atmosphere—reminiscent of an elegant resort—without ever feeling stiff or overly formal.
Moorish Influence
The architectural identity of the showroom is shaped by a rhythmic sequence of tall, sculptural Moorish-inspired niches, each outlined in subtle gold and softly backlit. These arches house custom modular white shelving, designed specifically to display 1.6 ft x 1.6 ft rug samples.
Grandmillennial Charm
The design balances modern minimalism with touches of nostalgic sophistication. Classic elements—like arched mirrors, bar-height white consultation furniture, and light pastel upholstery—echo the playful yet refined spirit of the Grandmillennial aesthetic. These choices soften the clean lines with warmth and character.
Cape Dutch Influence
A sense of symmetry, calm, and balance is introduced through clean white paneling, a simple floorplan, and exposed wooden ceiling beams. These architectural cues nod to Cape Dutch colonial simplicity, creating a subtle frame for the more decorative Moorish and Regency details to shine.
Flexibility & Functionality
The showroom layout is fluid and flexible. At the client’s request, the number of niches or shelving levels within each niche can be reduced to allow for vertical storage of rolled samples or larger formats, adapting to future collection needs.
There is the possibility to install a central display/ workstation island.
A central arched wall niche—framing a full-size featured rug—becomes a focal point. This wall conceals the access door to the backstore , maintaining a clean and uninterrupted gallery aesthetic from the public-facing side.
Additionally, beneath the two round niches located near the rug wall, built-in drawers are installed to store extra samples, ensuring both storage and display remain elegantly integrated.
The outcome is a space that functions as both retail showroom and gallery installation—modular, elevated, and editorial. Every architectural and design decision supports the client’s vision: a luxury rug studio that is equally suitable for in-person experience and online storytelling.
Thank you!
PS At the same time, all interior elements are easy to build using relatively common materials and can be executed with a medium level of DIY skills. Their dimensions are easily adaptable to specific requirements, and there is dedicated space for electrical installations either at the bottom or top sections of the niches.
