This design aims to simultaneously maximise the usable space of the apartment and provide a large amount of storage through the use of built in furniture. These help isolate the bedrooms from the living spaces, giving privacy whilst helping to connect the different spaces.

Entering into the apartment you arrive at the hall, here we propose herringbone parquet flooring that runs through to both the living area and bedrooms. The first sight upon entering the apartment is the sleek, white storage unit that, protects the bedrooms from noise and guides you into the living/kitchen area with a gentle curve, reflecting light into the hall.

Passing into the large living space we see the kitchen to one side, the pale terrazzo floor complimenting the softer wood in the rest of the apartment, making a slight curve that mirrors the curved storage unit. The kitchen units are modern and white with a rougher pine work surface to soften the aesthetic.

In the lounge area towards the balcony we have placed a fire (electric) into the curved unit, adding warmth to the living area with its gentle glow. Soft chairs and sofas rest over a teal coloured carpet that highlights the lounge space and provides a contrast to the modern look of the interior.

In the bedrooms we propose extensive wall to wall storage, in this instance unpainted, combining hanging space, draws and seating, adding great flexibility to otherwise small spaces. The outer walls of the apartment are painted in an earthy grey colour offsetting the cool white walls in the rest of the house.

The bathrooms have the same terrazzo flooring as in the kitchen but here the units are wooden with a white surface, possibly granite or a similar durable material. In Bathroom 1 we find the bathtub-shower, bathroom 2 houses another shower and the washing/drying machine.

Over all we have designed useful, comfy spaces furnished in a modern yet warm style. Where possible we have kept the existing walls to save cost and time and where not possible we have suggested the use of fixed storage units as both wall and furniture.
