The phrase "iconic space" resonated deeply with me and became the leitmotif of this project, conceived for a high-end target audience.
After immersing myself in the landscape of Pantelleria, I realized that the one thing we couldn't do was more of the same. I was struck by the uniformity and similarity in the area's architectural vision, particularly the dammusi. From this starting point, I sought to design a singular element, a "grain" that would break the monotony of ochre and green tones.
I revisited iconic imagery, such as the Caryatids, whose replicas will now serve as supports for the lounge’s roof. Semi-circular arches will fulfill a similar role, adding both structure and aesthetic appeal. Marble will be used for the bar countertops, while the two niches between columns will be clad in large-format porcelain tiles resembling Carrara marble. For contrast, the flooring will be completed with the same material but in black. To reconnect with familiar elements, wood will feature in the ceilings and the decks of the more open spaces.
Though it is not a core element of the project, I would recommend the installation of solar panels to ensure self-sufficiency in the bar's energy consumption.
The kitchen is my "grain." There is a specific request for it to be minimal. But what does "minimal" mean? A countertop and adequate circulation already require at least 2 meters. For this reason, the kitchen is designed longitudinally and divided into two distinct areas to avoid potential contamination issues: a preparation zone and a cleaning zone.
I leave you with some images that will require the use of your imagination.
