Residential - Apartment
Dear David,
This renovation project explores two layout options designed to make the apartment more functional, flexible, and tailored to everyday living.
Solution A keeps the current walls and openings as they are, focusing on smart use of space and a refreshed, elegant interior.
Solution B introduces more flexibility by creating a connection between the living/dining area and the study, and by opening up the flow between the kitchen and living space with a new sliding door.
Bathroom
The bathroom is inspired by Art Deco style, combining timeless elegance with a compact, well-organized layout. Though small, it’s designed to feel refined and comfortable. In solution B, as you suggested, the space is enlarged to make room for a bathroom cabinet, adding extra practicality without compromising style.
Bedroom
Both layout options fulfill the requirement for generous storage.
In Solution A, a linear wardrobe with an additional dresser keeps the space organized and airy.
In Solution B, a corner wardrobe is introduced, maximizing every inch of available space while keeping the room open and uncluttered.
Kitchen
The kitchen features a classic shaker-style design arranged in two rows, carefully planned to address the window base height and create a balanced, functional workspace.
In Solution B, a sliding door connects the kitchen with the living/dining area. This door is envisioned not just as a functional element but also as a decorative feature, echoing the same idea for the sliding door to the storage area in the corridor.
Living and Dining Area
The living area is compact but welcoming, so furniture pieces are chosen with care — not too large, easy to move, and perfect for social gatherings when more space is needed.
A radiator cover in Solution B is designed to double as a display shelf for plants and books, adding charm and personality.
The partition wall between the living room and guest/study bedroom is planned as a full-height folding wall: when closed, it blends seamlessly with the rest of the interior; when opened, it creates a large, connected living space.
Guest room/ study
The guest room is designed as a flexible multifunctional space, featuring a wall bed with side storage cabinets, a sit/stand desk with an office chair for comfortable work, a dedicated area for gym equipment and a vertical plant holder to bring in a touch of greenery.
Color and Atmosphere
The two design approaches also explore different moods through color.
Solution A embraces a bolder, more dramatic palette, with navy blue walls in the living room creating a sophisticated backdrop,
Solution B leans towards a warm, earthy palette, giving the space a calm and natural feel. Both designs are inspired by soho house style, embracing eclectic approach to everyday living.
I would like to thank you for your patience and deadline extensions:)
Wishing you good luck with your renovation project and best regards!
