Briefing
I am looking for advice and inspiration regarding furniture and decorations for this apartment. # Style I'd like to create an inviting atmosphere that makes it feel natural for people to hang out in the apartment, everything from twelve people down to two or just a single person. Also think that I need to find a couple of fitting base colors. I like clean, but it doesn't have to be sterile. Decorations, colors and flowers are welcome. Clever solutions for compact living can be cool, but I am not a fan of when they get too obvious.I prefer designs that look uncompromised, as if the area was constructed for the furnitures and not the other way around. Some feelings I'm striving for: Social, Relaxing, Clean, Nature, (Zen?), (Scandinavian-ish?) # Bed Since I don't have a bedroom I like the idea of creating a somewhat closed-off area for the bed,but it is not a requirement since I don't know if it is possible to achieve in an elegant fashion, # Balcony The balcony is rather big in relation to the apartment. I decided to make it glazed so thatit would feel more like a room and an extension of the apartment. Since the view is not the best I will need to compensate, plants are probably the way to go, maybe a small tree even? Keywords are social, welcoming and nature. # Main I don't want a television to be the center of the room. I am leaning torwards buying a projectorto get rid of the "big black area" that a regular tv screen creates when turned off. Not going for a home cinema and I won't use a projector screen. It would be greatif the projector could be hidden somewhow, maybe among other things so that it doesn't "pop out"Same goes for roof mounted projectors, they tend to be very visible and not what I am after. # Office Not talking about a full blown office, but I do need a small desk where I can put a screen, keyboard, mouse and computer. If the computer chassis can be hidden from plain sight that would be fantastic. Minimalistic is good. # Dining A big table is not necessary. Great if you manage to include it, but don't force it in. Not planning any fancy family dinners. A few places to put glasses and some plates is all I require. # Storage and Closet Two small rooms used for storage. I don't believe that any furniture, like a bed or a desk can fit in these. # Required or existing furniture: - I've already ordered a bed with the dimensions 120x200cm - I am consdering getting the Libratone Live for music and home entertainment. Mainly because it looks good and comes with a variety of different colored covers. Suggestions are welcome if you feel your design would go better with other speakers # Stores - Ikea - Any furniture store in Stockholm, for example Boconcept - International stores online if you find something unique that would fit perfectly # Budget I am not on a tight budget, but I am reluctant to spend $4000 on just a sofa (it would have to be a pretty damn good sofa). Lower prices are advantageous but not an absolute necessity. # Deadline I put 7 days as a deadline since I am moving in soon and will start to buy furniture. I hope it is not too short.
