Vieste Studio Renovation – Design Concept
The project aims to transform the existing studio into a bright Mediterranean holiday space that creates a strong visual impact for rental listings while preserving the traditional architecture of Vieste, especially the characteristic vaulted ceilings.
The design keeps the studio open but organizes it into clear functional zones.
A glass partition with sheer curtains separates the bedroom area from the living space, providing privacy when needed while maintaining natural light and visual continuity throughout the studio.
To create a strong focal point, the bed is placed against a turquoise semicircular feature wall, inspired by the colors of the Adriatic Sea. This element adds personality and creates a memorable visual identity for the apartment.
The living area includes a sofa bed, allowing the studio to host additional guests, along with a comfortable seating zone facing the TV. A warm wood TV unit, natural textiles, and a large rug help define the space and create a cozy atmosphere.
The kitchenette is redesigned as a minimal built-in kitchen with clean white cabinetry and compact appliances, keeping the visual focus on the architectural vaults and maintaining a light, uncluttered appearance.
The material palette follows a Mediterranean style, combining:
off-white mineral plaster walls and ceilings
natural wood furniture
textured fabrics
turquoise accents inspired by the sea.
To address the humidity typical of historic coastal buildings, the walls are finished with breathable lime-based plaster and mineral paint, materials commonly used in Mediterranean architecture that allow the walls to breathe and help prevent moisture and mold.
A natural stone accent wall was also introduced to enhance the historic character of the space while adding texture and durability.
The result is a warm, authentic, and highly photogenic studio, designed to create a strong “wow effect” for guests while respecting the original character of the building.
