Restyling funzionale di un duplex di charme a Bruxelles

ENG:
Dear Client,
We are delighted to have participated in your design contest.
We kept the ground floor wall layout fixed; however, to address the issue of the guest toilet door facing the living area, we introduced decorative columns to screen the toilet entrance from view.
We designed the access steps to the rear terrace as two elongated platforms; beyond their function as stairs, they can serve as window seating, a reading nook, or a display area for decorative elements.
We kept the spiral staircase in its original location but updated its overall color and clad the treads in wood to enhance its aesthetic appeal and harmonize it with the overall design.
The modifications made to the first floor differ somewhat from those on the ground floor.
The primary issues on the first floor included non-functional spaces, walls that were not square, and a utility room with direct access from the bedroom.
We relocated the utility room entrance to the master bathroom; this not only screened the utility area from the bedroom but also allowed us to create a private laundry space by installing a washing machine.
We reconfigured the existing corridor and clothing storage area to create a walk-in closet for the master bedroom and a private bathroom for the second bedroom. Additionally, we expanded the second bedroom and created a storage closet for household items such as a vacuum cleaner, cleaning supplies, and the like.
To provide privacy for the master bedroom from the first-floor living area, we installed a sliding glass door between the bedroom and the open-to-below void; this ensures privacy while allowing natural light to pass through even when the door is closed. We designed the apartment drawing inspiration from modern and minimalist styles. By combining neutral tones with wood elements, we aimed to create a space that is warm, inviting, and modern—offering a living experience that contrasts modern aesthetics with the historic character of Brussels.
I hope you enjoy our design.
Please feel free to email us with any questions or requests for modifications.
