The design of this project seeks to communicate the new kitchen with the rest of the house. To achieve this goal the wall separating the living area from the new kitchen was partially demolished. In order to breach the gap between the existing space and the new one steps were installed where the wall was demolished.

Once you enter the house through the front door at the left, under the stairs a shelving and coat hanging unit were custom made to fit the existing space. At the right, the living room is an inviting and relaxing space. The sofa sits facing the TV and the gray stone wall that is a focal point of the design. Farther in the room there is a six-seat dining area with pendant lights suspended at different heights to create movement in the space. The dropped ceiling and column that goes from the living room and the dining area was painted in a dark gray color that frames the accent wall and highlights the three-dimensional effect of the stone. On the wall opposite the dining area, a wall painted with the same dark gray color host a wooden frame mirror with benches underneath that can serve as additional seating for guests. The new opening connects the kitchen to the rest of the house and allows for more interaction between the people using these spaces. All the furniture was arranged o allow the window doors to be opened without needing to move the furniture which in turns creates a better flow between indoor and outdoor.
