housing - small-apt
This design uses warm tones used all though out the rooms, which flow smoothly from room to room.
The living room is a bright open space, welcoming to guests and functional for watching TV – with lots of space for DVDs and a custom designed unit incorporating the arches.
From this space you flow into the dining area, which has a glass table which adds lightness to the room. The table chosen is oval to allow for more space as it is a walk through area to the bedrooms. The furniture used though out is oval and round in shape, this is purposefully so to enhance and reflect the arches.
The only addition to the walls of the apartment is the arch between the dining and the lounge/salon. The reason this arch is put here is to create a divide between these two areas, and to make the lounge more enclosed.
The lounge has two sofas and a built in shelving unit, it is a perfect areas for inviting guests to after a meal, for resting, relaxing and reading. It is a more intimate space created using darker tones and richer textures – such as silk on the walls.
Throughout the design you will also see various pieces subtly reflecting the theme of the Lord of the Rings, such as the rig pendant, the table base resembling the Ent trees and the elvish looking dining chairs.
This design incorporates many furniture styles and from various sources, but in all there is a very smooth transition in style from room to room.
