I like Scandavian design or mid century modern design. Clean lines and warm colors. I’m dating an artist some unique aspects are fun. My plan was to make two spaces, the main house for me to live in and then a separate rental space in the back. My goal is to design the main house to match with the uploaded kitchen inspiration photos and to make a backroom for a separate studio with a kitchenette for rental. Many people have suggested I should knock down the wall behind the kitchen to the hallway with the skylights.
The backroom layout is the best I could come up with but the finishes (floor, walls, furniture I’m not sure. If you feel you have a better layout feel free to suggest. Something interesting to attract airbnb guests would be great.
I would like a stairwell in the backyard to go up to a 2nd floor deck (on top of my current back room) where I can enter the main house from the rear (see inspiration picture of solar covered patio). I would need to put a door in the back bedroom to make this happen and I was thinking to put a sauna on the patio.
Also the bedrooms are very small on the 2nd floor, I can be fine with them but if you have other thoughts of a 2nd floor layout please feel free to suggest. It is possible to move the wall into the potential deck space (above the current back room) since it’s so large. Since moving an exterior wall is expensive, it must be worth the money.
My last concern is storage, there is only small closets in the current design. Also it is not shown in the plans but I’d like a rooftop patio on the highest roof. I was thinking pull down stairs where the current 2nd floor hatch is. Feel free to suggest any ideas at all.
Finally I love slat walls so if you could include that into the design in the main house and potentially the back room that’d be great. I’m also adding some lighting inspiration. I like the under lights in the cabinets and backlights. Let me know if you have any questions.
As a bonus. I have the option to build up to 40 feet (the current house is 22 feet tall). That said I was thinking to do this later. If you have rough ideas on what to do with another floor of space, please let me know.

Come bonus.
