Dear client, first of all we want to thank you for the opportunity that you give us by launching this interesting contest.

CONCEPT
The poject arise from the will to combine two essential aspects : space configuration and the sensation that the space produces in who enjoys it. We beleive that the architecture and design of a space have to tell a story, a story that has to emerge from each project's detail, in order to involve the user.

In this case the story is that of a group of people called by Malcom X AFRICAN-AMERICAN, in other words African that lives in America. Not an ordinary goup, but a special one : a group with a difficult past, sometimes impossible, that has proved that the dream of freedom and better life can become true. The TEACHING MESSAGE is clear : NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE and love is always the answer. This maessage will be sung and danced in the streets, pubs, clubs and everywhere in the world thanks to HIP-HOP and REGGAE, different musical genre but similar in their purpose.

Client's request? To make this message the common matrix of a space thought and designed to be a cycle club, probably one among many of a chain. Where? In America, obviously. As first location, Las Vegas, versatile and full of diversity city.

We have had immediately this VISION : a red pulsating heart, the heart of a group of people that have used music to express themselves inside american big cities. That heart takes the shape of a compact disc, that vibrates and turns as a bike's wheel inside a spin classroom full of music and at the same time surrounded by the city's chaotic rhythm. This is our logo for this cycle club.

LOOK
How the spaces look like? And how they were thought?
Client's requests were clear : a cycle club with 3 main areas, a check-in and merchandise area, a lounge area and a spin classroom.

The concept gave birth to the volumetric configuration. A central space reserved to the SPIN CLASS ROOM, that is the HEART of the enterprise. The sourrounding space is ideally diveded into two half-circles, one of which is divided between the lounge area, in front of the spinning room, and the check-in and merchandise area, in front of the club entrance; the other one contains the services combined with the cycle room, such as separated entrances for ladies and gentlemen, lockers, bathrooms and showers.

All the spaces are linked by paths that reach all the club's surfaces, in order to ideally represent the brenches that from heart brings blood in all of our body.

Since there isn't a defined locatin, we thought SPACES AS MODULES, in other words 4 areas ( check-in, lounge, spin class room, lockers ), that can be resized according to the needs. In the same way it will be possible to modify the spatial arrangement. This is due to the will to guarantee the maximum FLEXIBILITY and ADAPTABILITY.


ATMOSPHERE
What sensations is the space broadcasting?
The message that this setting bring has to arrive clear at the user : STYLE, FUN, FREEDOM, POSSIBILITY TO CHANGE EVERY DAY OUR LIVES.

Architecture and design communicate and express EMOTIONS THROUGH the language of MATERIALS, COLOURS and LIGHTS, that toghether with a space thought and designed in the smallest details creates a magical atmosphere.

The colours selected are three : BLACK, WHITE and RED. The first ones represents the conflict and the CONTRAST that habit our world, the last one represents the binder that LINK TOGETHER DIVERSITY.

Spin class room is our binder, the space in which thanks to sport and music everyone can express freely him/herself. In a room in which black color rules, is the red lighting that creates the perception of a bright color.
Lounge and check-in area are part of a unique space, that is characterised by grey microcement floor and grey brick wall, in order to recreate the typical mood of Brooklyn's lofts and warehouses. In such an undressed space, it's the white forniture, carefully selected and custom designed ( such as the counter ), that gives the sensation of refinement and sophistication.
EVERY DETAIL IS IMPORTANT TO CREATE THE RIGHT ATMOSPHERE : the entrance to the spin class room is guaranteed by a garage door, that , such as in the best BROOKLYN tradition, hides a secret world. In the same way the entrance doors to the lockers rooms illustrate two of the major hip-hop icons : Tupac for the gentlemen entrance and Missy Elliot for the ladies entrance.
