This intervention aims to reveal the full potential of this space, with the smallest changes to the walls configuration, thus reducing the costs of the remodel. The kitchen was opened to the living area, the living area was opened to the entrance area, and the bedroom was rearranged. This allows a wider distribution of the natural light that enters through the windows/balcony doors, and gives the apartment an open space character, suitable for its single-resident use.

The kitchen was upgraded with new furniture, with light stone top and dark wooden doors. The sink was kept in the same place, but the stove and the oven were replaced, allowing the creation of a new seating area (with high stools and bottle storage) in the kitchen.
In the living/dining area, the furniture displacement was rearranged, to combine in the same compartment three different areas: eating area (closest to the kitchen, with a table for 5 plus 1); living area,(with an huge sofa and tv space); work area (in the middle, with a large counter top that you can use as desk).

The hall gained a new built-in storage area, with a two-module and one-door cabinet, painted in white for a better integration on the walls. If necessary, a sliding door could be applied, separating the hall from the living room, thus creating a completely closed entrance area.

In the bedroom, the change of walls allows the rearrangement of the entrance, making space for a large closet, with high doors and low drawers. In one of the corner of the bedroom could appear a reading/relax area, assisted by a module of built-in shelves.

This project proposes some changes in the bathroom. The remodelation of the bathroom is not mandatory for this project to work, because the walls were kept as they exist right now. It is just an optional upgrade. The bathroom could have a larger shower, by the window, a new position for the toilet (to "hide" it, so you dont see it when you open the bathroom door) and a new washbasin, with space to put both an washer as a dryer machine, disguised inside the furniture piece.

Though the entire house, the new light wooden floor contrasts with the mainly dark colours of the furniture. This combination, punctuated by the decor/complements in autumn colours (orange, dark red, brown), gives the house a cosy and warm feeling. Regarding the furniture, this proposal combines accessible solutions from Ikea with some custom made pieces (that although being slightly more expensive, allow you to take maximum advantage of the available space).
