Smart, minimalistic and fun answer to your interior request.

In order to experience your son’s bedroom more spacious than it currently is, the idea is:

1. Emphasis on WHITE - White color is the best space “opener”, meaning: walls, purlins, baseboard, window casing and door casing & panel are all painted white (wall & wood paint respectively).

2. Rafters are covered with plasterboards, creating smooth ceiling surface between purlins, contributing to the overall “simple, bright and clean” aesthetics of the room.

3. All the furniture is made out of bright materials: natural & white gloss topcoat painted plywood for wardrobe, sleeping & working area, white desk chair, light grey carpet.

4. Current terracotta floor is covered with light grey carpet (other more expensive option would be to change terracotta floor with white washed oak wood flooring for example) – as well serves as space “opener”

5. Sleeping area on top of the wardrobe – Smart solution to fulfill all your and your son’s needs. Semi walk-in wardrobe, with hanging area, shelving system, storage space, and separate drawer units. Sleeping area is positioned on top of it, with a simple mattress (you mentioned min of 1000x1950mm, the current slap is 1200mm in width, allowing a bigger mattress (and comfort), if needed). The rest of the slab is designed as a storage unit (with opening doors on top) , that serves at the same time as a “night stand”. This vertical zoning is highly optimized solution that allows better and more sufficient use of space.

6. Keeping working area simple and small, as requested (considering you mentioned your son will not work/study in there), containing of a simple white desk and chair (the desk width is sufficient for a laptop, desk lamp etc, and three plywood bookshelves above the desk.

7. Final touch – CHALKBOARD WALL – brings playfulness & fun in the room, the contrast to all the “whiteness” is making it more dynamic, while being very minimalistic at the same time. Moreover, leaves the option for your son to be an active participant in his room’s interior design :)
