I think that this apartment is in a southern city.
and thinking to the south, to its light but also its heat and to the need to protect themselves from it, I have structured this project.
the architectural tradition of the south of the world by always builds patios and gardens, fountains and shadows to be outdoors but protected from the sun.
I think therefore that the heart of the house should become a garden.
an indoor garden but that it opens completely to the terrace, the element of freedom and strength of the entire system, giving priority to the south / west side: into the sunset.
and I imagine this indoor garden covered with colorful tiles, maybe the best tradition of the Sicilian enameled lava stone.
and I imagine it as an open house, accessible in every sense, where the light and the air become the main actors.
the windows are in light wood, with external sliding sunbreaker. Sills are low, also useful as sessions.
the flooring is uniform, the same in all environments except for the indoor garden and the connection space between the bedrooms and the living area. this is a space with two south windows that, if possible, would be good to widen and to lower allowing the entry of light, useful to brighten up even the most distant part of the corridor leading to the entrance. this is also envisioned as a garden where one open all the bedrooms.
Most of the furnishings are custom-made (libraries, cupboards, window sills / chairs, wardrobes, kitchen table) along with some design objects '50s and' 60s (the table and the chairs in the study, one or two armchairs in the living room, the kitchen stools) and other objects (sofa, garden table and chairs) which can also be generics but that form, as a whole, a refined set, relaxed, comfortable, colorful and eclectic


penso che questo appartamento sia in una città del sud.
e pensando al sud, alla sua luce, ma anche al suo calore e alla necessità di proteggersi da esso, ho strutturato questo progetto.
la tradizione architettonica dei sud del mondo da sempre costruisce patii e giardini, fontane e ombre per poter stare all'aperto ma protetti dal sole.
penso quindi che il cuore della casa debba diventare un giardino.
un giardino interno ma che si apre totalmente sulla terrazza, l'elemento di libertà e di forza dell'intero sistema, privilegiando il versante sud/ovest: verso il tramonto.
e immagino questo giardino interno rivestito di mattonelle colorate, magari della migliore tradizione della pietra lavica smaltata siciliana.
e immagino anche questa casa come una dimora aperta, fruibile in tutti i sensi, dove la luce e l'aria diventano protagonisti.
le finestre sono di legno chiaro, con frangisole scorrevoli esterni. i davanzali sono bassi, utili anche come sedute.
la pavimentazione è uniforme, uguale in tutti gli ambienti tranne che per il giardino interno e lo spazio di connessione tra le camere da letto e la zona giorno. questo è uno spazio con due finestre rivolte a sud che, se possibile, sarebbe bene allargare e abbassare per permettere l'ingresso della luce, utile per illuminare anche la parte più lontana del corridoio che conduce all'ingresso. anche questo è immaginato come un giardino sul quale si aprono tutte le camere da letto.
la maggior parte degli arredi sono fatti su misura (librerie, armadi a muro, davanzali/sedute, cabine armadio, guardaroba, tavolo cucina) insieme ad alcuni oggetti di modernariato anni '50 e '60 (tavolo e sedie dello studio, una o due poltrone del salotto, sgabelli della cucina) e ad altri oggetti (divano, tavolo e sedie del giardino) che possono anche essere generici ma che formano, nell'insieme, un'atmosfera raffinata ma informale, confortevole, colorata, eclettica.
