The goal of the renovation is to convert a large city apartment to modern day use and adapt its layout to the needs of a conpemporary family. Through the process of demolition and reconstrucion of inner non-load-bearing walls it is possible to organise three units of bedrooms with bathroom and walk-in closet for the respective family members, together with a guest bathroom. The master bedroom has a rather large bathroom with double sink, spatious shower, toilet and bidet. The walk-in closet is situated behind the double bed, with accces from both sides. The children`s rooms have large study areas with table and bookshelves. Their bathrooms are smaller, but nevertheless functional and independent from the other parts of the apartment. Due to being loacted not close to an installation vertical, the bathroom 2 must possibly be eqipped with pump and macerator system in order to bring sewage waters to the installation shaft. The laundry is located adjacent to the kitchen, so that the installations could be positioned in the wall.

The living room is split so that the niche with the elevator shaft becomes a multi-puropse room. This room can easily be transformed to open itself onto the large living room through a large 3-part sliding door. An office table with shelves is positioned on the elevator shaft wall, while gym equipment, such as elliptical machine or threadmill, could be slided in the narrow spaces next to the shaft, disappearing almost completly when not in use. Curtains are used to cover respectively the gym equipement or the working table, depending on which are not in use at the moment. The entrance foyer comprising the two entrance doors is defined with wooden furniture elements and wooden wall panels of the same material, to form an integral formal unit. The position of the adjacent slidig door remains unchanged, but its design is renewed to match the interior design of the whole apartment. The large terrace door in the living room is changed to a contemporary lift-and-slide door, the opening is enlarged correspondingly. A similar lift-and-slide door is positioned in the Studio / Gym room, which requires an opening of ca. 230 x 240 cm in the external wall itself.

The building renovation can happen in different phases, suggested as follows:
phase 1 - tearing down of old walls, the fomation of bedrooms together with bathrooms
phase 2 - formation of walk-in closets
phase 3 - formation of studio / gym room and installation of lift-and-slide doors.

The overall appereance of the flat is dominated with natural colors and textures. Some of the interesting existing furniture is being reused. Wall panels in larch wood, such as the ones in the foyer and corridor, help to accentuate the unity of the elements. Indoor plants such as bamboo, or large-leaved monsteras bring calmness and natural peace in the overall design. The lightning concept is a combination of indirect linear lights hidden in the suspended ceiling, spotlights which accentuate the space, and hanging lights above tables and kitchen counter which also bring a touch of elegance in the interior space.
