PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project aims at meeting all the requirements that were expressed by the description of the announcement and that have emerged from the subsequent dialogue between the designers and the client.
The plan of the apartment has been completely re-designed, by redistributing the inners spaces in a more rational and simple way that minimizes the corridors and clearly distinguish the areas reserves for night and day activities, as allowed by the structural pillar scheme of the building.
The day area consists of a very large and open space that acts as a living room, kitchen and dining room. Despite three different uses are enclosed in one single room, there is no conflict between the various areas, that are well defined, and the creation of a bright and large space is enabled. The living room of the house is maintained in the north, not to break the relationship with the fireplace, built to replace the existing chimney. Both the lounge and the dining room have been furnished in a modern-minimal style, as suggested by the examples of the announcement. In addition, a high level kitchen furniture has been selected. The living area being open both north and south, has views on both terraces, which were redesigned in agreement with their original vocation. The northern terrace, which is larger and located next to the living room, is the ideal environment for dining and for night life during the summer. The south terrace is used both as a service environment, suitable for drying clothes (due to its proximity with the bathroom-laundry) and for breakfast and reading a newspaper in the morning.
The sleeping area includes two bedrooms, as requested by the announcement. The master bedroom has a bathroom with a glassy shower, and a large walk-in closet separated from the bedroom by a wall of satin glass. The single room, designed of adequate size to contain a large double bed, has two separate entrances: one from the small hallway leading to the master bedroom and one from the bath-laundry boxroom. It is possible to realize only one or both accesses according to the need. For example, if the room has to be reserved to a child, it is recommended that an entrance is also present from the corridor to maintain this communication with the chamber of the parents. If, instead, it is a room for guests, an access should be possible from the bath boxroom, so as to allow a greater independence, as the guest would not cross the area to reach the services. As it regards the service rooms the main existing bath was kept, as it is wide enough and equipped with a space for washing machine and dryer (set one upon the other). The bathroom of the master bedroom is located in the proximity of a column of tubes, which probably also includes a system of discharges of waste water; if there are no waste water pipes nearby, a pump type system (e.g "Sanitrit") can be adopted. The lower space of the living area was designed as a lumber room, separated by sliding doors of opaque glass that allow light to enter the living area from the window and dormer.


DESCRIZIONE DEL PROGETTO

La nostra proposta progettuale mira a soddisfare tutte le esigenze che sono state manifestate tramite la descrizione del bando e che sono emerse dal successivo dialogo tra progettisti e committenza.
La pianta dell'appartemento è stata interamente rigestita mediante una distribuzione interna più razionale e semplice, che minimizzia gli spazi distributivi destinati a corridoio e dà luogo a una netta distinzione tra zona giorno e zona notte, compatibilmente con la maglia strutturale a pilastri dell'edificio.
La zona giorno è formata da un grande ambiente unico open space che assolve alle funzioni di soggiorno, cucina e sala da pranzo. Nonostante tre diverse destinazioni d'uso siano racchiuse in un unico ambiente non vi è interferenza tra i diversi ambiti che risultano ben definiti, permettendo tuttavia la creazione di uno spazio luminoso e di grandi dimensioni. Il salotto dell'abitazione viene mantenuto in zona nord, per non rompere la relazione con il focolare, realizzato in sostituzione del camino preesistente. Sia il salotto che la sala da pranzo sono stati arredati in stile moderno-minimal, come suggerito dagli esempi del bando, ed è stata selezionata una cucina di pregio.
Aperta sia a nord che a sud, la zona giorno dispone di affacci su entrambe le terrrazze, che sono state rigestite tenenedo conto della loro originaria vocazione. La terrazza a nord, più grande e situata in prossimità del soggiorno, risulta l'ambito ideale per cene e ritrovi serali durante la bella stagione. La terrazza sud viene utilizzata sia come ambiente di servizio, adatto a stendere il bucato (per la sua vicinanza con il bagno-lavanderia), sia anche per colazioni e per la lettura di un quotidiano la mattina presto.
La zona notte include due camere, come da richiesta del bando. La camera matrimoniale è dotata di bagno con doccia a vista propri, e di un'ampia cabina armadio separata dalla camera mediante una parete di vetro satinato. La camera singola, di dimensioni adeguate per contenere un ampio letto da una piazza e mezza, dispone di due distinti accessi: uno dal piccolo disimpegno che conduce alla camera matrimoniale e uno dall'antibagno del bagno-lavanderia. È possibile realizzare uno solo o entrambi gli accessi a seconda delle necessità, se ad esempio la camera debba essere destinata ad un bambino è consigliabile che sia presente anche la porta verso il disimpegno per mantere comunicazione con la camera dei genitori. Nel caso invece sia una camera destinata agli ospiti è consigliabile che sia presente l'accesso dall'antibagno, in maniera tale da permettere una maggiore indipendenza senza imporre all'ospite di attraversare la zona giorno per raggiungere i servizi.
Per quanto riguarda gli spazi di servzio è stato mantenuto il bagno principale esistente, più ampio e dotato di uno spazio per lavatrice ed asciugatrice (messe in colonna). Il bagno della camera padronale è collocato in prossimità di una colonna di tubi, che probabilmente include anche un sistema degli scarichi delle acque nere; se così non fosse lo smaltimento delle acque reflue dovrà essere realizzato utilizzando un sistema a pompa tipo "Sanitrit". Lo spazio più basso della zona giorno è stato destinato a dispensa, separato con delle porte scorrevoli in vetro opaco per permettere l'ingresso della luce alla zona giorno anche dalla finestra e dall'abbaino.
