La configurazione attuale dell’appartamento dimostra quanto sia pertinente la richiesta di impostare il progetto di ristrutturazione in funzione di una più omogenea diffusione della luce naturale nelle varie aree dell’abitazione. L’orientamento rispetto al percorso del sole, tenuto conto della posizione geografica dell’appartamento (Roma), permette una buona penetrazione dei raggi del sole e quindi una discreta luminosità, tuttavia per posizione e numero delle finestre (ma anche per la presenza di alcune pareti) attualmente quasi un terzo della superficie resta lontana da questa possibilità.
Tenuto conto delle altre invarianti come l’ingresso, la colonna fecale e la struttura portante, il progetto introduce alcuni cambiamenti nella disposizione planimetrica dei vari ambienti e, come da richieste, ne introduce di nuovi come la seconda camera da letto, un secondo bagno e uno studiolo. Nella parte più lontana dalle finestre cioè quella a ridosso dell’ingresso, vengono sistemati la cucina e lo studiolo. Affinché la luce penetri il più possibile, questi ambienti sono delimitati da vetrate a tutta altezza. Quella della cucina si poggia sul lungo bancone che termina quasi al centro dell’appartamento diventando penisola per la colazione e pranzi o cene informali. Nelle mattine d’inverno, grazie al fatto che il sole resta basso, i raggi che entrano dalla porta-finestra della seconda camera da letto (che occupa la posizione attuale della cucina) riescono, grazie alla vetrata posta fra il pilastro e l’angolo della nuova cucina, ad illuminare direttamente questa zona riuscendo a rendere l’atmosfera della colazione più piacevole. Allo stesso modo, nel tardo pomeriggio dei giorni estivi, i raggi del sole, entrando dalle due porte-finestre del soggiorno, arrivano a lambire questa stessa area. Il pavimento esistente in marmo chiaro lucido riflettendo la luce irraggerà costantemente gli ambienti con una luce sempre diversa capace di dare il senso dello scorrere del tempo sia quotidiano che stagionale. Entrambe le camere da letto sono disposte ad est, ciò permette al sole la mattina e quando c’è’, di illuminarle direttamente.
Nella zona d’ingresso viene ricavato un piccolo locale dispensa / ripostiglio che offre anche un più veloce accesso alla cucina per quando si torna a casa con la spesa. Il disimpegno della zona notte è delimitato su un lato da un vano lavanderia / ripostiglio capace di accogliere un mobile lavatoio con lavatrice. Entrambi i bagni, modificando l’infisso della finestra, hanno luce ed aria diretta. Uno di questi ha accesso direttamente dalla camera da letto padronale dotata anche di cabina armadio.

The current configuration of the apartment shows how pertinent the request to set up the renovation project according to a more homogeneous diffusion of natural light in the various areas of the home. The orientation with respect to the path of the sun, taking into account the geographical position of the apartment (Rome), allows a good penetration of the sun's rays and therefore a fair brightness, however for the position and number of windows (but also for the presence of some walls) currently almost a third of the surface remains far from this possibility.
Considering the other invariants such as the entrance, the faecal column and the supporting structure, the project introduces some changes in the layout of the various rooms and, as requested, introduces new ones such as the second bedroom, a second bathroom and one study. In the part furthest from the windows, that is, close to the entrance, the kitchen and studio are arranged. In order for the light to penetrate as much as possible, these rooms are delimited by full-height windows. That of the kitchen rests on the long counter that ends almost in the center of the apartment becoming a peninsula for breakfast and informal lunches or dinners. In the winter mornings, thanks to the fact that the sun remains low, the rays entering the French window of the second bedroom (which occupies the current position of the kitchen) succeed, thanks to the glass window placed between the pillar and the corner of the new kitchen, to directly illuminate this area managing to make the atmosphere of breakfast more pleasant. Similarly, in the late afternoon of the summer days, the rays of the sun, coming from the two French windows of the living room, come to touch this same area. The existing floor in polished light marble reflecting the light will constantly irradiate the rooms with an ever-changing light capable of giving a sense of the passage of time both daily and seasonal. Both bedrooms are arranged to the east, which allows the sun in the morning and when there is, to illuminate them directly.
In the entrance area there is a small pantry / utility room which also offers faster access to the kitchen for when you return home with shopping. The hallway of the sleeping area is delimited on one side by a laundry room / closet capable of holding a sink with washing machine. Both bathrooms, by changing the window frame, have direct light and air. One of these has direct access from the master bedroom also equipped with a walk-in closet.
