Here is a small description about my idea for your apartment renovation.
First idea was to create two separate spaces as you suggested, living area downstairs and sleeping area on the higher level.
Those two areas are connected with staircase that both play the role like a tv stand, drawer and small wardrobe. In the continue there is custom made wood board that can play the role of dinning also working desk.
On the opposite side there is build in kitchen that can provide basic equipment:sink, built in fridge, oven and hub.
Bathroom is done with minimal usage of space, as the washing machine is placed inside wardrobe in the next room , and connected on bathroom canalization and water system. Bathroom door are sliding.
Living area is equipped with simple Ikea sofa and coffee table that can be used for eating too.
On top level, because of the existing beams, the idea was to close entire space in different heights, so that same place become one area for sleeping. Lower level of sleeping area provides space for bed base and mattress, while this higher lever is used for another wardrobe and book shelving.
Floor in lower lever is done as epoxy white floor, while upper level is done as ash wood floor.
Bathroom and kitchen walls are decorated with Porcelanosa and Imola ceramics.
In this application there are provided furniture and light layouts with types of ceramics and floors, that will help you in further design.
This space gives a lot of possibilities, and I've tried my best to provide, in my opinion, bright, modern and happy design for your apartment with a great possibilities.
