The apartment subject to the intervention is located on the fourth floor of a beautiful historic building overlooking a characteristic street of the city, in the historic center of Genoa. For the context in which it operates, it was decided to adopt a type of furniture and a light that would respond to precise functional requests, accompanying them with the choice of a language and warm, welcoming and elegant colours.
The project, as requested by the client, intends to transform the premises, now used as an office, into a small apartment consisting of a living room with kitchenette, double bedroom, bathroom and small closet where to put the washing machine and the water heater. Due to the small size of the apartment, it was decided to place the latter inside a wardrobe hidden behind mirrored doors, a small service space also suitable for containing what is necessary for cleaning the property.
For technical reasons, related to the positioning of the drain column, it was not considered appropriate to move the bathroom from its pre-existing position. However, the expansion was necessary in order to also contain the shower and all the required sanitary ware. To this end, interventions were made on the entrance door, approximately 120 cm wide, by replacing it with another one with two 80 cm and 40 cm doors. Externally, from the landing, this opening will be effective and will not alter the overall aesthetics of the condominium parts, internally, however, the 40 cm door will not be openable as it is closed with 10 cm masonry. This artifice was necessary in order to obtain a more rational expansion of the bathroom. The positioning of the small kitchen took into account a distance from the drains sufficient to avoid the use of pumps of any type and kind. As requested by the client, under the sills of the two windows, in the niche, the Unico type heat pumps were placed, which, for a better aesthetic result, can also be hidden with wrought iron screens. It was preferred to organize the sleeping area by separating the wardrobe area from the bed area, ensuring greater functionality and harmony for both spaces. Finally it was considered appropriate, given the high height of the rooms, to add a false ceiling to part of the apartment, also in order to allow for pleasant spotlighting from above.

L’appartamento oggetto dell’intervento si trova al quarto piano di un bel palazzo storico che affaccia su una via caratteristica della città, nel pieno centro storico di Genova. Per il contesto in cui si opera, si è deciso di adottare un tipo di arredamento ed una luce che rispondesse alle precise richieste funzionali, accompagnandole alla scelta di un linguaggio ed a colori caldi, accoglienti ed eleganti.
Il progetto, come da richiesta della committenza, intende trasformare i locali, oggi ad uso ufficio, in un piccolo appartamento composto da soggiorno con angolo cottura, camera da letto matrimoniale, bagno e piccolo ripostiglio dove mettere la lavatrice e lo scaldabagno. A causa delle ridotte dimensioni dell’appartamento, si è scelto di posizionare questi ultimi, all’interno di una armadiatura nascosta dietro ante a specchio, piccolo spazio di servizio atto anche a contenere quanto necessario alla pulizia dell’immobile.
Per motivi tecnici, legati al posizionamento della colonna di scarico, non si è ritenuto opportuno spostare il bagno dalla posizione preesistente. Si è però reso necessario l’ampliamento al fine di poter contenere anche la doccia e tutti i sanitari richiesti. A tal fine si è intervenuti sulla porta d’ingresso, larga 120 cm circa, prevedendone la sostituzione con altra a due ante da 80 cm e da 40 cm. Esternamente, dal pianerottolo, tale apertura sarà effettiva e non andrà ad alterare l’estetica complessiva delle parti condominiali, internamente, invece, l’anta da 40 cm non sarà apribile in quanto tamponata con muratura da 10 cm, Tale artifizio si è reso necessario al fine di ottenere un ampliamento più razionale del bagno. Il posizionamento della piccola cucina ha tenuto conto di una lontananza dagli scarichi sufficiente ad evitare l’utilizzo di pompe di qualsiasi tipo e genere. Come richiesto dalla committenza, sotto i davanzali delle due finestre, in nicchia, sono state poste le pompe di calore del tipo Unico, che, per un migliore risultato estetico, potranno anche essere nascoste con schermature in ferro battuto. Si è preferito organizzare la zona notte separando l’area delle armadiature da quella del letto, garantendo maggiore funzionalità ed armonia ad entrambi gli spazi. Infine si è ritenuto opportuno , vista l’elevata altezza degli ambienti, controsoffittare parte dell’appartamento, anche al fine di permettere una gradevole illuminazione a faretti dall’alto.
