The main goal of the project was to create a small but luxurious house both efficient and intimate but without excluding the possibility to have great views. From the main entrance there is a clear transparency to the backyard with a view to the pool. Thanks to the large opening, the living and kitchen can work as a open terrace if the weather is nice, the house being opened towards the south. Kitchen is placed on east while on west we have a master bedroom with a shaded garden to keep cool in the summer and to have a personal space, more intimate than the pool area. The space has been maximized by having a walk-in closet underneath the staircase.
There is a second entry on the eastern side, near the laundry and close to the kitchen. The living can be opened towards the grill area by its large enough windows to work as doors if needed but still a small enough opening to protect the living room from smoke and smell.
The volume of the house representing the living area has been extended by a open pergola (which is not considered built space) thus hosting the grill area with view towards the pool. The glazed area is somewhat towards the inside of the house being shaded from the nearby volumes thereby being architecturally protected from the heat. If necessary there can be added a sun-shading system in order to keep the heat at bay but a nice view towards the garden should not be excluded.
In order to compensate the possible cost of the large glazing, the rest of the windows have been kept to a medium or smaller size also underlining the main point of view hierarchically.
The upper level is a compact volume that creates a beautiful composition of the house, as it is regarded from all 4 cardinal points. It is also quite efficient, while the built volume remains at 205 sqm with bedrooms facing west and east (master bedroom). It is a simple yet chic house, giving away the cleanliness and personality of the modern style.
