Architecturally, this house is designed in a craftsman-like style to complement the architecture of the neighbourhood. We’ve aimed for a traditionally-designed home and incorporates both a classic design style that suits British Columbian design tastes and construction techniques. The main house material is stucco; however, it is complemented by two feet of dark stacked stone at the basement level, as well as cedar trims around the corners, doors, and windows. Exposed beams on the underside of the roof add visual appeal.
This house features everything requested in the document and conforms with the building and floor footprint requirements in the BC Building Code.While the multiple space constraints were challenging, we have created a design that provides space for your extended family, tenants, and future renovation, while maintaining a spacious, comfortable, and well-lit house that does not feel tight or cramp. The main floor includes one master bedroom, two other bedrooms, a sizable living room, an expansive kitchen, and the den portion of the client’s parent’s suite. The living room ceiling extends upwards past the second floor to the roof to provide greater light and feeling of space. (We have marked out where to install new walls when the second floor is converted to suites) Access to the covered pool is by the master bedroom, which juts out into the backyard, and by the kitchen, allowing for easy access to the patio, pool, and yard.
The top floor currently has a family room, two bedrooms, and a bathroom; we have indicated where walls are to be installed when the floor is converted to suites. Access to the second floor is by an exterior set of stairs to the balcony, as well as a flight of stairs inside.
The basement features two suites, both accessed by a set of stairs on the west side of the house. One of them has a set of stairs to a den upstairs. Both feature comfortable family rooms and kitchens.
