For this project was followed a method aimed at the energy re-qualification and composition of the building, through the identification of the characteristic elements of a building and their eco-sustainable and functional transformation.
Some examples are: skylights transformed into light shafts and stack ventilations, the rust on the old fixtures that suggested the use of COR-TEN steel and even the luxuriant weeds were revived as vertical climbing screens or green walls. This establishes a close link with the existing building and creates
something new aimed at sustainable energy.
Although the old building is profoundly changed by the intervention, its essential elements remain, such as the geometry, the perspective scan or the characteristic details.
The building is reassessed in a social way, freeing it from the negative aspect that reminds degradation and giving it a new one that transmits a positive message of sustainable modernity, that becomes a model for its internal function and that refers its positive history as social gathering and love for art.
