First of all, we think that every space, although small, has always a big potentiality in it. All we have to do is to find it and to pull it out of the surfaces.
...So, let'go!
SPACE DIVISION
We thought to maintain the actual configuration of the spaces, but with little improvements, that can make the spaces work better. The biggest division is in two parts : the living area and the night area.
In the LIVING AREA there are 5 different spaces : the entrance, the kitchen, the storage, the work area and the living room. We thought 3 different solutions to configure this surface : 1) you can have all the spaces divided and separate one from each other ; 2) you can have an open space, so the kitchen and the living room are not separated by a wall; 3) you can have a total open space, with biggest surfaces, because of the absence of a storage room ( you told that this room is not essential in your home ).
The most important thing is that the WORK AREA solution is the same in all the three different configurations : it is separate from other spaces by an open library, so it results as a divided surface ( to hide the office mess ;) ) , but at the same time it is a part of the living area and it can enjoy of the natural light that comes from the windows.
In the NIGHT AREA there are other 5 different spaces : the hallaway, that allows to reach every room, the little bathroom, the master bathroom, the master bedroom and the kids' bedroom.
The most important thing is that the kids' room is designed to have one unique structure for the kids' beds and wardrobes, in order to leave a big emplty surface for their PLAY AREA (so they don't have to stay in the living room ). This area can be used in the future to set their desks or other pieces of furnitures that can be useful.
Another important thing is to solve the problem of your noisy neighbours : we thought to use SOUND ABSORBING PANELS in the master bedroom ( they are at the same time useful and beautiful pieces of design).
ATMOSPHERE
Every space and every room is thought and designed to express the minimalism and the shape clearness that characterizes the CONTEMPORARY AND SCANDINAVIAN DESIGN. White, grey and a touch of blue and yellow are the tones that emerge frome the spaces. The light colors are at the same time useful to make the surfaces appear bigger and to relax your mind.
