Congratulations on making a precise contest. Many contestants need more information about the work, and must ask additional questions. Expanding the kitchen and integrating it with the dining are is excellent as the two are already complementary rooms. That way it will help you , the housewife, to prepare all meals for the family with much greater ease. And also with the bigger room you can host more parties with friends if you want. The step down in the living room will stay since it will help the food smell climb up and releave the living room from the scent and more important the heat that is made while cooking won't disrupt your husband whilst he is watching TV or working in the living room since hot air can't go down and will go up. The kitchen is quite good enough as it is, but since i love to work, and work to love, i'll try my best to upgrade it if possible. The pantry should be custom made to be more efficient. The garbage bags will be replaced by hadmade wooden shelves and then you will stretch a bag in the shelf. The pantry should also have a harmonica door (since a sliding one can't be put because the wall isn't long enough). That kind of door will save you space that a regular door requires to open. The harmonica door should have venetian blinds in the middle or atleast in the lower part. Because sunlight can harm your grosseries in the pantry but a steady current of air will help them last longer. It will keep them more fresh since there won't be stagnant air in the pantry. That's a big mistake in most pantries which don't have a small window for releaving the stagnant air. The harmonica door can be made by your husband with a little wood and hinges, some tools and a lot of knowlegde. The fridge and other things that are in the little indent you have are nicely put and will stay there. The laundry room should also have a handmade harmonica door beacuse the laundry is tiring to be dealt with when a door is in the way and also the space that the door usually needs is not at all needed by a folding harmonica door, and will leave more space for doing the laundry. Thats more space than before with little effort and money spent! The dining table will be put near the little island table that you have beacuse that way it will be easier for you to carry the meals from the island table to the dining table. Since the place for the table is the middle of the room now you can use the left part as a little plank for quick breakfast, when you are in a hurry. And you should make one little plain plank and put it just on the entrance from the hallway so that your kids and husband can easily snatch the meal you made and packed for them without coming in the kitchen, losing time while running late. These are some low bugdet modifications which you can easily make and implement, which will keep most of your furniture and benefit you alot.
