Architectural Design Brief: Renovation Project [Progetto di Ristrutturazione]
Project Overview
This renovation project [progetto di ristrutturazione] transforms an open-plan living area into a cohesive, multi-zone home using a modern Mediterranean [stile mediterraneo moderno] aesthetic. By combining architectural millwork, soft spatial boundaries, and a natural palette of oak [rovere], Roman clay, and linen [lino], the design achieves spatial privacy and fluid circulation while creating a truly welcoming [accogliente] atmosphere.
1. The Entryway & Circulation [L'Ingresso & Disimpegno]
A custom floor-to-ceiling slatted oak [rovere] timber screen is placed 1.2m inward from the main door to create a dedicated drop-zone for outerwear. This permeable partition elegantly shields the main living space from direct sightlines while ensuring natural light [luce naturale] from the balcony continues to filter freely into the entryway.
2. The Living & Media Lounge [Il Soggiorno]
The central living area features a deep-seated, L-shaped sofa [divano] in textured linen, oriented toward a low-profile rustic wood console set against a warm Roman clay accent wall. To maintain a bright and airy feel, a full-height, open-backed oak shelving unit [libreria] is utilized instead of heavy cabinetry, bridging the open space with integrated storage and display.
3. The Dining Zone [La Sala da Pranzo]
Acting as a transitional anchor, a heavy-timber Tuscan farmhouse dining table [tavolo] measuring 1.8m x 0.9m is paired with upholstered chairs to soften acoustic reverberation. This dining zone is defined purely visually—without the need for physical walls—by a low-slung, statement woven or matte-black dome pendant light dropping directly over the center.
4. The Kitchen [La Cucina]
Anchored near the balcony [balcone] to maximize ambient daylight, the kitchen utilizes an ergonomic L-shaped layout built along existing plumbing nodes. Warm oak and soft mushroom shaker-style cabinetry is paired with natural stone countertops and open floating upper shelves to keep the space feeling open and perfectly illuminated.
