The aim of the project is to take maximum advantage of the available space and to optimize the sunlight and orientation of each room.

Being the open space the area where the client will spend the most of his free time, I consider it is crucial that it enjoys the best orientation. According to that, it is located facing west so that it is lavishly illuminated by sunlight in the afternoon. What's more, it's a multi-functional space, given that the kitchen can be separated or integrated in the open space thanks to the sliding glass doors. Aesthetically, framed glass partitions contribute to this perception of openness and functionally the client will be able to watch the TV from every part of the space: sofa, dining table and kitchen bar.

The bathroom, on the other hand, is located facing north because this orientation is the less appealing in terms of sunlight and views. This new location is completely feasible, I'm an architect and have developed many interior projects where the distance between the bathroom and the drain was even bigger than here. Be that as it may, the bathroom location is the same as the former kitchen and that's why I think there is chance to make use of some previous pipes and drains of the kitchen.

Finally, I clearly separated the bedroom behind the load-bearing wall since this space is big enough to fulfill with the bedroom requirements. Moreover, it faces south and greatly enjoys a big amount of sunlight. At the same time, the project provides the bedroom with the required privacy from inside thanks to the little entrance and from the outside thanks to the tall and lush vegetation in front of the south façade.
