The project proposes a mezzanine that extends only half the width of the house so that a part of the existing central window is dedicated to the new bedroom and the other portion to the living area through the double height space. The curvature of the wall that surrounds the new bedroom allows the light to reach even the deepest area of the first floor dedicated to space for study and for the bookcase. The supporting structure of the new mezzanine is provided in steel beams anchored to the existing walls and to the kitchen beam. If it is not possible to anchor the new beams to the existing walls, some steel pillars can be added to support the new mezzanine. The staircase is laid out in sheet steel, highly resistant but light and thin so as not to compromise the perception of space. The stretch of new corridor that connects the sopplaco with the staircase is foreseen with a walk-over glass deck so that the light can reach even the corner of the living room under the stairs and more distant from the window.
The garden facing the kitchen has been equipped with a longitudinal terrace that leaves the sides free and the front for the plantings that over time will tend to encircle the building integrating it in the external landscape. The roof is provided with waterproof curtains, roller blinds, anchored to a fixed steel frame. The last module, the one closest to the transversal border, is covered with a grid of wooden beams forming a pergola.
